ÆGIRS AÑEJO



Ægir’s Añejo is an exclusive organic spirit inspired by a long history. Not only does this drink have roots going back thousands of years, but spirit from 100% Mexican Blue Weber Agave has never been made in Norway before. The Blue Weber Agave plant – which is a relative of the lily, and not a cactus – is the only plant that can be used to make Tequila. Blue agave grows best at higher elevations, where the climate is arid, and grows slowly, giving a characteristic and concentrated flavour profile. It takes at least seven years after planting before the agave can first be harvested. We imported agave syrup from Jalisco to Norway, where it joined with our pure water. After fermentation and distilling the spirit was aged for more than two years in medium-charred virgin American oak barrels. The result is a soft and pleasant spirit with the classic aromatic character of real Añejo—the definition of Tequila aged between one and three years.
